Staying Well is key, so if there are changes or things happening in your life that are affecting your wellbeing, get in touch with us.

Stay Well services for those of you that are doing okay, but need some support to cope with changes or things that are going on in your life, (we also offer training to parents and teachers so they have a better understanding of what you’re going through and how they might help).

Stay Well CYP Youth Services in Stoke

Stay Well’s services include:

Weekly Peer-support Groups (PSGs):

Where CYP aged between 8 and 18 – can connect with others who are ‘in the same boat’ – share self-help tips, offer each other support, and learn to apply Changes 12 steps to manage mental distress.  

Different PSGs are provided for different age-groups – run by qualified staff, providing safe, friendly and structured meetings – that you can join in with whenever you need.

Mental health support for children, teenagers and young people

Bite-sized Training Programmes:

A series of bite-sized on-line training programmes, designed to promote more helpful thinking, healthier behaviour and to increase your coping skills – helping you to stay well.

With different training for different age-groups, (aged between 8 and 18) single sessions lasting for approximately an hour – topics covered include:

Psycho-educational Workshops:

We offer 4 week psycho-educational workshops for children and young people, including our; Wellbeing Workshops, Decider Workshops and Dealing with Difficult Emotions Workshops.

Wellbeing Workshops can help young people to understand and manage any difficult emotions, thoughts and behaviours.

Decider Workshops teach the young people 12 skills in managing their difficult emotions.

Dealing with Difficult Emotions Workshops are for any young people specifically dealing with difficult emotions, such as anger, who want to find ways of managing them.

Teacher and Parent Training and Support:

Teachers, volunteers and parents will continue to be provided with access to a range of on-line training programmes relevant to raising their awareness of CYP mental health needs and how best to meet these needs, (we will also be working with teachers and parents to develop new programmes to help them to assist CYP within the current circumstances). For details of available on-line training courses, please see orange text below.

As keyworkers, Teachers will also be able to access necessary 1-2-1 support to help them stay well at this difficult and stressful time.

Training is delivered by an experienced Mental Health Trainer & Wellness Coach – and you will gain an online certificate on completion of each course.

Free On-line Mental Health First Aid Training for Professionals working with children & young people in Stoke on Trent

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a course for everyone who works or lives with young people aged between 8-18.

You can learn how to support young people’s mental health, provide help in an emergency, and guide them towards the appropriate support.

Online Platform: Enabley (formally Time to Know)
(Trainees must complete all 4 online sessions to become a Youth Mental Health First Aider)

The course consists of 4 modules that are delivered over 4 live sessions, and an average of 5 hours of individual learning which is accessed through an online learning portal.

The training is FREE of charge, however, there is a £20 cost per delegate for the training materials (workbook, manual, action card & certificate). These will be posted to your preferred location around a week before the course is due to start.

Where necessary, part of the new digital offer will include staff offering

additional 1-2-1 support, i.e. via video link, telephone, email or text.

Monitoring Forms: How you can help us…

When you access one of Changes services – it really helps us if you can provide us with some basic info about yourself and how our services have helped you.

When you access the service, a member of Changes staff will send you an email containing links to an on-line ‘Enrolment Form’ and some basic monitoring forms to complete*.

*To see what difference our service has made, we’ll ask you to complete these at the beginning, during and end of your time with us.

This helps us to make sure that we’re offering you the right kind of service and to make the Commissioners* aware of the impact of Changes services.
